Weekend At-A-Glance

The Canadian Ismaili Games weekend is jam-packed full of fun and has something for everyone. Whether you’re here to play, watch, cheer on your friends and family or to just catch a weekend of amazing sportsmanship, you’ll find it all at 2011 CIG in Edmonton, Alberta!

The following is a brief overview of what you can expect over the course of the competition. Please note: this schedule is subject to change.

Thursday June 30, 2011
  Games Day 1 (Ball Hockey) – South Soccer Centre 11am – 7pm
  Jamati Services – Lister Hall 7:30pm
  Athletes Dinner – University of Alberta Pavilion 6pm – 7pm & 8pm – 9pm
Friday July 1, 2011
  Free 22nd Annual Canada Day Breakfast and Citizenship Tea – Alberta Legislature Grounds 6am – 11am
  Games Day 2 – Morning Session 8am – 11:30am
  Opening Ceremonies – University of Alberta Pavilion 12pm
  Opening of "Exhibition of Aga Khan Museum, The Ismaili Centre & Their Park" – University of Alberta Pavilion 1:30pm
  Games Day 2 – Afternoon Session 1:30pm – 6pm
  Athletes Dinner – University of Alberta Pavilion 6pm – 7pm & 8pm – 9pm
  Jamati Services – Lister Hall 7:30pm
  Chai Night – University of Alberta Pavilion 8:30pm – 11pm
  Evening Entertainment: Ruh Ki Awaaz (Voice of the Soul): Devotional program including Qawaalis and Geets by local and neighboring region performers and artists from the National Ismaili Music Ensemble
  Games Day 2 – Marquee Night 8:30pm – 11pm
  Canada Day Fireworks 11pm
Saturday July 2, 2011
  Games Day 3 8am – 6pm
  Jamati Services – University of Alberta Pavilion 7pm
  Celebration of Athletes: Complimentary Dinner and Entertainment for all Jamati members – University of Alberta Pavilion 8pm
  Entertainment by the Sasz-E-Mehfil band – World renowned artists who have performed all over North America and recently in Kenya during the Golden Jubilee
Sunday July 3, 2011
  Games Day 4 8am – 6pm
  Farewell BBQ for all Jamati members (tickets available at ICARE) – Varsity Field 11am – 3pm
  Entertainment by the energetic BC-based RRAFIKI band

* Athletes' meals will be provided at the Athletes' lounge and/or at the respective sporting venues based on the sports schedules. Concessions for all visitors will be available for purchase at the University of Alberta Pavilion and Foote Field.
